He signed on with the Recon Company and was sent to the Pacific Theater. He served in Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Pelelui, Guam, and Okinawa.<\/p>\n<p>He was discharged as a Private First Class and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Victory Medal of World War II, the USMC Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/code-talker-samuel-tso-navajo-oral-history-project\/samuel-tso-camera\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1630\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1630\" alt=\"Code Talker Samuel Tso - camera\" src=\"http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Samuel-Tso-camera-720x539.jpg\" width=\"720\" height=\"539\" srcset=\"http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Samuel-Tso-camera-720x539.jpg 720w, http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Samuel-Tso-camera-300x224.jpg 300w, http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Samuel-Tso-camera.jpg 1067w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo by Tom Grier\/Navajo Oral History Project.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After his March 1946 discharge, Code Talker Tso continued his education earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Utah State University in Logan, Utah.<\/p>\n<p>As a teacher and then as a teacher supervisor, Code Talker Tso worked there thirty years.<br \/>\nCode Talker Tso remained active in education, serving as a school board member for<br \/>\nMany Farms High School in Many Farms, Arizona.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/code-talker-samuel-tso-navajo-oral-history-project\/samuel-tso-small\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1631\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1631\" alt=\"Code Talker Samuel Tso at home\" src=\"http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Samuel-Tso-small-720x539.jpg\" width=\"720\" height=\"539\" srcset=\"http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Samuel-Tso-small-720x539.jpg 720w, http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Samuel-Tso-small-300x224.jpg 300w, http:\/\/navajopeople.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Samuel-Tso-small.jpg 1067w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo by Tom Grier\/Navajo Oral History Project.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Code Talker Tso traveled throughout most of the U.S. conducting presentations about the<br \/>\nNavajo Code Talkers and about his life experiences before and after the war.<\/p>\n<p>He holds several relevant documents about the Navajo Code Talkers and contributed to the Back to the Battlefields documentary.
